Manor House in Essendon

Brief

Having been introduced to the development by local electrical contractors, Automated Smart Homes were asked to design and install a comprehensive structured cabling infrastructure into the listed manor house which was undergoing conversion into individual apartments.

Systems Provided

Network Icon A communal TV and Satellite distribution system was provided for the entire development. Inside each of the apartments computer, telephone and TV points were cabled ready for potential occupiers. All points were wired back to a central discreet patching enclosure allowing the occupier the flexibility to “move” incoming services such as the phone line or internet connection to different rooms as their use of the rooms changed.

Challenges

Cabling in a Listed property

The main challenge of the project was to introduce a modern cabling infrastructure into the fabric of a listed building, ensuring no cables were visible afterwards and none of the integrity of the construction was compromised.

Strictly diligent adherence to regulations was observed, and sensitivity offered to the main character of the building, a stunning period property.
